Meet Our Vocation Directress

Praised be Jesus Christ! My name is Sr. Mary Michael and I currently have the blessing of serving our community as vocation directress. This means that I get to help girls just like you better understand the deepest desires of your heart, as well as the desire of Jesus’ heart for you, which, believe it or not, are one and the same! It is truly a joy for me to get to assist young women in one of the most exciting journeys of their lives—the discernment of how Jesus is calling them to love, a.k.a. their vocation.

I, myself, felt the Lord knocking on my heart as a freshman in high school. Though some young women readily recognize the blessing of such an invitation, I was not one of them. It was many years before I surrendered to God’s plan for my life. I thought that after high school I would attend a deeply Catholic college somewhere in the friendly South and maybe become a deaf education teacher or a youth minister. Then, of course, get married and have at least four children…but probably many more. Instead, I entered our community. I could hardly have imagined the beauty that awaited me in religious life.

I know first-hand that discernment can be difficult and sometimes scary. I also know that nothing in this world can compare to Him. No words can adequately describe the profound joy and deep peace that come with saying ‘yes’ to God’s desire for our life.

If a life of contemplation, reparation, and spiritual motherhood, saving souls for His Sacred Heart and drawing others to a deeper love of Him, which you’ve read about in these pages has sparked an attraction in your heart, contact me. I’d love to hear from you. It would be my joy to share more about our life with you and assist you in any way that I can!

In His Heart,

Sr. Mary Michael, Carmel DCJ

"And so, today, with great strength and great conviction, on the basis of long personal experience of life, I say to you, dear young people: Do not be afraid of Christ! He takes nothing away, and he gives you everything."

-Pope Benedict XVI
