Retreats & Events

It is our joy to share the depth and beauty of our way of life with young women and inspire within them a profound love for Jesus Christ through retreat opportunities. Each year a number of retreats are held at our Provincial House in St. Louis (Kirkwood), Missouri, for single, Catholic women 17-29 years of age. All retreats include an experience of our way of life through participation in our communal prayers, the chanting of the Divine Office, Holy Mass, and recreation with the Sisters. Retreats further include talks given on the theme by a Sister or priest, time for silence with the Lord, and an opportunity to meet other young women discerning God’s call.
Younger girls also have several opportunities throughout the year to become acquainted with our way of life via Sequela Christi volunteer days and Carmelite Day.

More recently, we've expanded our retreat offering to include an annual silent retreat day for any woman age 18 or older.  Our next silent retreat in English will take place Saturday, April 12, 2025, and in Spanish, Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Discernment Retreats

Discernment Retreats are for young women discerning religious life, beginning 7 pm on a Thursday evening and ending before noon on Sunday. Talks given at these retreats touch on the nature of discernment, the beauty of the call to consecrated religious life, the basic elements of Carmelite Spirituality, and the particular charism of our Carmel of the Divine Heart of Jesus. An opportunity to experience our apostolate is also included. A retreat donation of $40 is gratefully accepted.

We welcome nun runs, group visits, and individual visits (for those unable to attend a scheduled retreat). Contact Sr. Mary Michael to learn more about arranging such a visit.
